Muggy weather ahead in Delhi

Brief spells of monsoon showers kept the mercury on the lower side in the city on Sunday although high humidity levels robbed Delhiites of the comforts of a pleasant weather. The rains in the city, after a two day lull, measured 9.2 mm between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm.

Following this spell, humidity oscillated between 90 per cent and 60 per cent. Traffic snarls were also reported from some areas in south and east Delhi due to water-logging. The Met department said maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 28 degrees.

The maximum was two notches below normal while the minimum was one degree above the normal temperature for this time of the year. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Saturday were 38.5 degrees and 30.7 degrees respectively.

The Met department said the weather will remain cloudy and the city is likely to receive a few spells of rain on Monday. It said the maximum temperature is likely to be around 37 degree Celsius while the minimum could be at 28 degrees. Monsoon had arrived in the city on July 6.

The apital has so far received 116.2 mm of rain.
