Several producers these days are bending backwards to accommodate a star's fancy to earn on a profit-sharing basis. However, not many claim to be so lucky. In fact, Anurag Kashyap is one director who claims he has not even been paid the director's fee for all but one film of his career. And his upcoming film starring Ronit Roy, Rahul Bhatt and Tejaswini Kolhapuri will only be his second film for which he will get paid for helming the project.
A source close to Anurag says, "After directing a short film way back in 1999, Anurag has moved on to bigger projects. He has already directed 10 films in his 13-year long career till date. In fact, he got paid for No Smoking for apparently getting John Abraham on board." The auteur was supposed to have received R 41 lakh for directing and writing that script.
But things are about to change for Anurag. An industry insider says, "Dar Motion Picture will finally give him a cheque for his job on the project. The amount is around Rs 1 crore." While Anurag refuses to quote the exact figure, all he says is, "Yes, it's my second film for which I will get paid my director's fee."

Sources also add that the entire film is being made on a budget of R 8 to 9 crore. One can only guess how much of that amount exactly will land in Anurag's kitty. The director is famous for living like a simpleton and is often spotted in his trademark bathroom chappals.u00a0
