The Amitabh-Parveen Babi starrer was directed by Tinu Anand and was known for the super hit song Jahan teri yeh nazar hai and the dialogues of the film. Rawail purchased the rights from Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd who held the rights of the film till last week.

A source from the trade says, "In the time of remakes, Kalia was one of the few films which people wanted to remake. Incidentally Amitabh Bachchan remains the frontrunner among the actors whose films are being remade. Earlier too, his film Sholay, Don and Agneepath have been remade while Zanzeer is right now under production. His other film Saate Pe Saata is also to be remade soon." In spite of several calls, Rawail remained unavailable for comments.u00a0
