Directors Gurinder Chadda and Farah Khan discussed movies and babies when they met recently after four years
Gurinder Chadda is in town to showcase her new movie It's A Wonderful Afterlife to producers. The London girl
Apart from work, Gurinder is also taking time out to catch up with friends and to socialise. Her first stopover was her friend Farah Khan's house.
Over lunch
The two directors had appeared together on Koffee with Karan, pre-motherhood. Now Farah has triplets,u00a0 while Gurinder has two-year-old twin boys named Ronak and Kumiko. Talking fondly of Farah, she says, "We had an awesome time at her place.
Her triplets and my twins brought the entire house down! I went there for lunch but stayed back till six in the evening. We had so much to catch up on. I think her kids are adorable and my boys had so much fun."
Farah has even invited Gurinder for her lingerie show. She laughs, "Yes, but she hasn't asked me to model! I don't know how it would look like, for me to be a showstopper on that event!." On a serious note, she talks about her next release that she's in the middle of completing. A supernatural comedy, it stars Shabana Azmi in the leading role as a Punjabi mother wanting to marry her plump daughter off.
"It has the same soul that Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice had, but it's a totally different genre. I am super excited about going back and finishing it. I think everyone is going to be shocked to see Shabana in a totally different avatar."
Looking at an April release, Chadda says the audience for films that blend cultures and genres has increased. "I think in the past four years there is definitely an increase in an audience wanting to see some good cinema. I really enjoyed watching Kaminey, Dev D or even Jab We Met, which was fabulous."u00a0u00a0
