Chill Thrill
Preity Zinta is on a long holiday in the US of A. After shooting for a song in Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, the actress made her way to LA to spend time with a cousin who is based there as well as a close friend.
Post her break-up with Ness Wadia, the actress seems to be chilling out with her gal pals. That's what friends are for, no?
In Big Boss 3?
A channel birdie chirps to say that the names being approached to be part of Bigg Boss 3, include Aditya Panscholi, Varun Gandhi, Sherlyn Chopra, Kamal R Khan and German model Claudia Ciesla (who was linked to Salman Khan).
A Streetcar Named Desire: Directed by Elia Kazan, this film about a brutish husband, his sister-law and wife, will remain branded in my memory just for Marlon's Brando's sheer performance. It blew me away. I am a huge fan of Marlon Brando. Vivien Leigh's performance too is one of haunting greatness.
On The Waterfront: This 1954 American drama film about mob violence and corruption is among longshoremen. Another film directed by Elia Kazan, it had another fine performance by Marlon Brando. The film was shot on location in and around the docks of Hoboken in New Jersey. Marlon Brando plays a dockworker whose brother Charley (Rod Steiger) is mob-connected union boss Johnny Friendly's lawyer.
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak: It's the first Hindi film I saw. The music was unbelievable. The innocence of love and how true love should be, will remain with me forever. It was a refreshing love story and I just loved the music of QSQT. My favourite song was Papa Kehte Hain. Another of my favourite Hindi films is Amitabh Bachchan's Namak Halal. I must have seen it 200 times just for the sheer chemistry between Amitji and Shashi Kapoor.
Sliding Doors: I loved the storyline. The film is about how life can change when we miss the bus or train. It's a nice mix of drama and romantic comedy, with the whole alternate lifelines deal being nicely woven together. I love romantic films and this was the first film I saw of Gwyneth Paltrow. She's a great actress.
The Deer Hunter: A 1978 war drama film, it has been co-written and directed by Michael Cimino and is about a trio of Russian American steel worker friends, Mike (Robert De Niro), Nick (Christopher Walken), and Stan (John Cazale), who come together to celebrate the wedding of their friend Steve (John Savage) and go on a final deer hunt before they leave for the Vietnam War. Robert De Niro is fantastic in the film. He inspired me as an actor and watching his films is one of the reasons why I wanted to act.
LOL!
Currently in London, Aamir Khan has blogged (https://www.aamirkhan.com/) after a gap. He writes, "Kiran and I saw what we thought was one of the funniest films we have seen in our lives. It's called Withnail And I. It is the most wacked out and bizarrely funny film I have ever seen. Warning: I'm not sure I should recommend it though.
