Designer Raakesh Agarvwal'su00a0 show failed to create a flutter, but Rina Dhaka's designs left people talkingWhile the 1971 Bond flick Diamonds Are Forever added another army of fans to Sean Connery's kitty, designer Raakesh Agarvwal's Premiere Classe in Circa 2010 didn't seem to create much of a flutter like the previous shows. But it rained diamonds literally, for the crystals kept falling off the dresses.
By the middle of the show when an almost egg-sized one landed on the ramp, we prayed that the models wouldn't step on them. The immediate next show by Rina Dhaka however left the guests and the media fraternity talking nineteen to the dozen about brocade laces and the cobweb designs.
What a waistAfter the models had sashayed down the runway in their blushing pinks and delicious peach-toned silks and chiffons for Agarvwal, Jacqueline Fernandes played showstopper. The former beauty queen and actress as expected was all praises for Agarvwal. "He is one designer I have always loved (Oh! How many times have we heard that this week?). He was bang on it and knew how to dress me exactly," declared a smiling Jacqueline.
And when questioned if the Sri Lankan bombshell knew how to wear a sari, pat came the reply from Agarvwal: "She doesn't need to know that in my creations". Well, that was one rescue act Raakesh which would put Bond to shame. While Rina's showstopper Lara Dutta scorched the ramp, many a male fan was left panting. "That waist was worth all the back breaking running around I did this week," declared a young dude from the organising committee. We couldn't agree more.
You're not Bassie, lassieFormer girl band Viva member Anushka Manchandani (don't tax your brains recalling... the lady shifted to playback singing down south after flirting with Bollywood for a while) tried a Shirley Bassey, opening Agarvwal's show crooning Diamonds Are Forever. The lassie ufffderr ufffdis definitely not Bassey, but for the love of anything Bond, let us just say we enjoyed it.
