Similarities and differences
Reality TV and documenting reality are as far apart as an aardvark is from Antarctica. But the most significant difference for me is the motivation. In the mainstream commercial set-up, the motivation is usually profit, but documentary allows for a varied motivations that go beyond commercial reasons.
Places to shoot
A good place to shoot is the one which helps you tell a story. I like the sea and spend a lot of time there. The ever-changing light on the water, the sand and in the sky enthralls me. There's a film I am working on in Jerusalem. It is about the remarkable friendship between a Palestinian Arab taxi driver and a Jewish American professor.
