Dadlani has recorded an electronica-rock blend of a track for Hollywood film 9, a Tim Burton productionVishal Dadlani will soon be seen in the credits of a Tim Burton movie. The music director, who is also lead vocalist for rock band Pentagram, has composed and sung a track for animated action film, 9. Produced by Tim Burton, the movie will be directed by Shane Acker.
Radical does it
Vishal reveals how he landed the project, "People representing the film got in touch with our management company, Only Much Louder. When you're looking for a truly radical sound out of India, Pentagram is pretty much the right answer."
All we neededThe track is called 'There Will Be Nine' and will be featured on the film's soundtrack. Describing its sound, Dadlani adds, "It's the blend of electronica and rock that we're known for, but it will be edgier than usual, in keeping with the film and its vibe. We received a synopsis, character sketches, and a brief. That was pretty much all we needed to work on the track." Even though he personally hasn't met Tim Burton yet, Vishal looks forward to meeting him.u00a0
Pentagram is putting out their fourth album this year and the track for the film might make it's way in it too.
Less is moreWhen asked if he will be doing more playback for Bollywood films in the future he adds, "Less is more. I sing for the joy of it, and for people I like and admire, so as and when my friends ask me to sing, I'm happy to. I'm not really looking at a playback singing career. I'll leave that to the professionals. Also, rocking out with Pentagram and scoring films as Vishal-Shekhar is enough to fill two lifetimes!"
