Anil Kapoor, who was most recently seen in the Hindi adaptation of âThe Night Manager' as arms dealer Shelly Rungta, received a lot of love for his role in the show. It also features Aditya Roy Kapur and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others.
At a time when remakes are becoming increasingly popular, they are often also the site of controversy. While some films turn out to be as good as the original, like Drishyam 2, some fail to grab the attention. Recently, Kapoor opened up about original content and what he feels about remakes.
In an interview with Film Companion, Anil said, "I like to create a lot of content, original content. In our family, there was a time when we used to do that and then suddenly we went into trying to make remakes. I feel a lot of filmmakers are doing that (today). For me, I feel that was not a good thing to do because somewhere I think it just makes your brain a little lazy. After all, making original content is very, very tough."
He also opened up on doing projects that are remakes and said, "Sometimes, as a business, certain things like, 24 and The Night Manager, they're adaptations, come up. I'm not going to say âno' because it works for me creatively and in terms of playing it a bit safe. But as a creator, you want to do things which are original, which is a lot of fun, a lot of pain, sometimes takes five to six years to lock it, because you're creating from scratch."
