With âRunway 34', Ajay Devgn made his third directorial venture after âU Me Aur Hum (2008)' and âShivaay (2016)'. In an exclusive interaction with mid-day, the actor, along with Rakul Preet Singh, talks about handling acting and direction at the same time, and how Amitabh Bachchan has great eyes too.
The actress also spills some beans on working with Devgn after âDe De Pyaar De' and working with him again in a comedy called âThank God'.
So what all happens on the sets when someone acts and directs at the same time? Devgn answers, âActually, it's not very tough, because when you're directing, you're always grooming your actors in your mind. And because you're the actor yourself, you're grooming yourself."
The film opened to rave reviews on April 29 and clashed with âHeropanti 2' at the box-office. Talk about it, Devgn said, "I wouldn't call it a clash. We spoke also and we are supporting each other." He said in an interview that his generation of actors are very emotional. How honest is he with filmmakers who are friends? Does he convey his dissatisfaction over a script? "Of course, when you have a rapport, you talk like this. When you don't have a rapport, you make an excuse that you like the script but don't have time. But if you have the rapport you tell the director that we can work on something else."
