Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has been a part of the Hindi film industry for over four decades. He began his career as a screenwriter for Kundan Shah's burning satire âJaane Bhi Do Yaaron' that came out in 1983. His debut as a director happened in 1996 with âIs Raat Ki Subah Nahin'. He's best known for dramas like âHazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', âInkaar', and âYeh Saali Zindagi.' His last theatrical release was in 2018 in the form of âDaas Dev'. He also helmed the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer âSerious Men' that streamed on Netflix.
On his Twitter account, the filmmaker recently tweeted, "I think I am going to make a film soon."

Reading this tweet, filmmaker Pritish Nandy replied- "Let's get back to the drawing board on the prequel/sequel to Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi. I will make it happen exactly the way we did the original. This is the right time." [SIC]
Another filmmaker Ramesh Sharma tweeted, "Good luck! But Stay Safe and Well. Don't believe those who tell you that Covid has been defeated. It's their job to mislead you." [SIC] Mishra quipped- "Soon means whenever it's safe."
The comments under the tweet were recommendations for Mishra. Users have been impressed by his sharp gaze at the political system of the nation and many of them wanted him to make a subject that questions the people in power.
One user wrote- "Sir u must. Looking forward to a wholesome movie where the script may capture the events unfolded during the pandemic
Be it unpreparedness by the state govts, malicious Vaccine Hesitancy campaign and most importantly the historical lapses in reduced budgetary allocation by GOI." [SIC]
Another one stated- "For a change, seeing something really positive coming out of a Twitter discussion. Request you to zero in on the sequel/prequel of the marvellous Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi." [SIC]
The filmmaker, for the uninitiated, is developing a period drama that traces the rise of the British Raj in India during the 19th century. "The story is based in 1840. It's about time we tell our own stories. We owe it to the next generation so that they know the story [of our freedom]. The show takes a hard look at what the Brits did to us, and how they established [their rule] over the country."
Mishra has envisioned the web series, backed by Applause Entertainment, as a three-season offering. "I have written the first season. Given the nature of the subject, the series has to be mounted on a massive scale, and it will take us time to roll the project," he says.
