In ‘Maja Ma’, Madhuri Dixit, a happily married woman and mother of two kids, comes out as a lesbian to her daughter, a video of which goes viral leaving her maligned and misunderstood in the community. 

Arjun Mathur plays a gay man in ‘Made In Heaven’ who faces police brutality in the first season after being secretly recorded by his landlord while getting intimate. 

In ‘Sacred Games’, Kubbra Sait took the internet by storm with her role as a transwoman named Kukoo, who plays Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s love interest. Initially unaware of her sexuality, he eventually finds her naked only to know the truth. The scene remains iconic on Indian OTT. 

In the Sushmita Sen-starrer web series ‘Aarya’, actor Vikas Kumar played the role of a gay cop named Inspector Khan. 

‘Khufiya’ is based on true events and is based on a book Escape to Nowhere, written by the former Chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW, Amar Bhushan. In the film which was released on Netflix, seasoned actress Tabu, an operative at R&AW falls in love with Heena Rehman, who is a Bangladeshi woman supposed to be working for ISI but is killed on a mission. 

Ivanka Das played the role of a transwoman named Beauty in the Netflix web series ‘Bombay Begums’. 

Pratik Gandhi plays a gay man in ‘Modern Love Mumbai’ who grows up in a conservative household and struggles to face the truths of his past. 

'Taali' is a biopic of transgender activist Gauri Sawant in which Sushmita Sen essays the titular role.

Sushant Divgikar played the role of a drag queen in the Bhumi Pednekar-starrer ‘Thank You For Coming’. 

In the second season of ‘Made in Heaven’, Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju, a doctor by profession,  played herself in the series, the role of a transwoman named Meher Chaudhry, who joins the wedding management company.
