Priyanka Chopra with hubby Nick Jonas
Popular American singer and Priyanka Chopra's husband Nick Jonas suffers from type-1 diabetes. This discovery of her husband's diagnosis led Priyanka to 'wake up in the middle of the night to check on Nick' for the longest time, said the actress recently on the show, The View.
According to a report on People.com, Priyanka said, "Initially, when we first got married, I couldn't wrap my brain around the fact that he knew when his sugar dropped, even when he was sleeping. He has this crazy discipline. He feels it."
Living with type-1 diabetes means the body creates very little or no insulin on its own, which would require a person with this diagnosis to take medication to maintain his health. Priyanka took some time to get used to this and said she would wake up in the night to check on her husband, before realising that she didn't have to worry.
Nick Jonas was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 13. Priyanka shared on the show, "He has been taking care of his diabetes since he was so young that he just has a crazy discipline about it. He knows exactly what to do, when to do it. He lives the biggest life possible. He's not restricted himself from anything. He plays sports, he's touring - he lives an incredible life. It's so inspiring to see."
