Devgn's special shout-out went to the evergreen and versatile Bengali legend Prosenjit Chatterjee who takes the lead as Probir, the iconic cop in 'Dawshom Awbotaar', the original Bengali cop universe.
The stellar cast of Dawshom Awbotaar also includes the talented Anirban Bhattacharya, who too essays the role of a cop and together they are set to redefine the cop genre in Bengali cinema, along with the brilliant Jisshu U Sengupta and Jaya Ahsan. For fans of Ajay Devgn's legendary portrayal as Singham, this cross-cultural support for another cop universe in Bengali cinema is a heartwarming spirit of collaboration and support in the Indian film industry.

'Dawshom Awbotaar' will hit cinemas on 19th October in West Bengal and fans across can look forward to a nationwide release on 20th October. Booking of the film begins on 15th October.
Produced by Jio Studios and SVF Entertainment and directed by Srijit Mukherji, Dawshom Awbotaar promises to be a cinematic masterpiece that has been eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike. Dawshom Awbotaar stands as more than just another cinematic offering; it heralds the advent of Bengali cinema's inaugural double prequel, intricately weaving the narratives of popular cop dramas - Baishe Srabon and Vinci Da.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn was the first cop to be introduced in filmmaker Rohit Shetty's cop universe. The universe began with the film 'Singham' in 2011. The film saw Ajay play the titular cop with Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. The second film was released in 2014. Both the films were massive hits at the box office. In the following years, Shetty introduced Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi in his cop universe. In the 2021 film Sooryavanshi, all three actors in their supercop avatar came together to save the day. The team is currently filming for Singham Again. Deepika Padukone will be joining the cop universe as a cop. Kareena Kapoor Khan, too, will be returning to the franchise.
