Shukla Sawant, a visual artist and associate professor at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU, will examine the relationship between landownership and landscape representation in the works of Rabindranath Tagore and artist Nandalal Bose as part of a special lecture, titled Land made productive: The Santiniketan Murals. Taking a hermeneutic view of Tagore's writings and his relationship with the environment, Sawant's lecture will throw light on the art works at Santiniketan, in particular, on the mural Halakarshan by Nandalal Bose.

Cine buffs can head to Navi Mumbai
Film lovers have a lot to look forward to with two film festivals slated to happen this month end. The second of Navi Mumbai International Film Festival is slated to happen from May 29 to 30 this year and has received entries from 75 countries
And one of them is aiming to put Navi Mumbai on the map of international festivals: Navi Mumbai International Film Festival(NMIFF). This year the festival has shortlisted 67 films from 75 countries. The entry to the event is free for all.

Watch personal documentaries from across India
Camera and I, is a three-day event which will be screening more than 20 personal documentaries set in contemporary India. The films explore myriad topics, mostly personal in nature, such as relationship between parents and children, among lovers, of people who inspire us among others. All films will be screened for free, and the event is open to all.
