Penguin India's silver jubilee celebrations that kick-started at the Jaipur Literature Festival, also witnessed the unveiling of the Penguin Car. As part of the anniversary celebrations a customized Ambassador car was designed as a visual representation of the joy of reading. Earlier this week, the Penguin Car finally arrived in Mumbai. A host of fun-filled activities have been planned by Penguin with the Penguin Car to delight every booklover in the city. The car will visit famous landmarks in the city. We spoke with the publishers about the thought and intent behind this unique idea.
Whose idea was it?
Our 25th anniversary is a very special milestone and one we had been planning for a while. We knew we were going to have a mascot - and what better than the classic ambassador - a symbol that is classic, iconic - and also endearing.u00a0

Where has the car been so far?
The Penguin Car will visit bookstores and literary festivals around the country through this year. It started off its journey with the Jaipur Literature Festival 2012 (where it was a runaway success!), stopped at the World Book Fair 2012 in Delhi. Was a highlight at Penguin's ten-day festival Spring fever, and is finally, here in Mumbai. The car is also loved and used by several Penguin India authors, and has been much in demand, wherever there have been books and reading.u00a0
