The two were arrested for selling SIM cards to unknown persons without verifying their documents

Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officials from the Aurangabad unit arrested two men on charges of selling SIM cards without proper verification and documents to unknown persons on Sunday. While officials believe that the duo is part of the July 10 bomb blast outside Faraskhana police station, ATS officials from the Pune unit yesterday denied their involvement in the crime for the time being.

The suspects were identified as SIM card seller Prakash Galande (30) and Sayyad Asif Sayyad Abbas (37), an activation officer at Tata Docomo. They were produced in the Gangapur court, which remanded them in police custody till September 5. Inspector H M Mundhe (Aurangabad ATS) registered a case against the duo.
During the investigation of the Pune blast, police officials zeroed in on a particular mobile number that was activated on July 7. This number was traced to Waluj in Aurangabad. It was later discovered that Galande had sold the SIM card.
During interrogations, Galande revealed that he had sold the card to an unknown person and got it activated using the Aadhar card and passport of Tanaji Ghaeet, a local from Phulambri tehsil - without his knowledge or consent - to whom he had sold a SIM card six months ago.
