A 60-year-old doctor from Mahim has been arrested by Unit 01 of Mumbai Crime Branch, on Wednesday, in connection with a baby selling racket busted by crime branch earlier this month.
Dr. Neeta Kulkarni was produced in the court and was remanded in the police custody till February 5. Chimaji Adhav, senior PI of Unit 01 told mid-day.
According to crime branch, Kulkarni who worked with a Dadar based nursing home allegedly forged documents to declare that several pregnant women gave birth to their babies in her nursing home and contributed to the racket by helping the accused arrested in the case.
"The documents were created in the name of a few women who never gave birth but illegally purchased babies from this gang," said an officer said

The crime branch have so far arrested 9 accused including a homeopathic doctor and have identified 7 new born babies sold by this gang in the last few years.
