A total of 65 capsules of cocaine were found in her stomach
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mumbai has arrested a Tanzanian woman and recovered cocaine worth Rs 8 crore from her. While part of the drug was found in her bag, she had concealed the remaining in capsules in her stomach. In total, she was carrying 810 gms of the drug. On Monday, the NCB arrested a Mozambique citizen - Fumo Emanubhav Zedekumsala - and recovered 70 capsules of cocaine worth Rs 10 crore from his stomach.
According to DRI, Tanzanian national Kitewana Wardah Ramadhani was travelling from Dar-e-Salam to Mumbai via Addis Ababa. DRI officials apprehended her at the airport based on intelligence input. A personal search led to the recovery of 160 gms of cocaine.

Ramadhani was arrested and produced before the Esplanade Court. Ramadhani was taken to JJ Hospital and an X-ray was done. Doctors recovered 65 capsules containing cocaine from her stomach. A DRI official told mid-day, "A total of 810 gms of cocaine valued at over Rs 8 crore was seized under the NDPS Act. Ramadhani has been remanded in judicial custody till August 24."

"The investigation has confirmed this drug syndicate is smuggling narcotics through people who conceal them in their bodies and travel to India on medical/business visas," the official added.
