Tarun Vijay says the younger Gandhi can effect a change; BJP-RSS leaders shocked

There seems to be no end to controversies in the Saffron party (BJP) where at regular intervals party leaders or Sangh activists come out with statements, leaving the party red-faced.

After Jaswant Singh and Arun Shourie, the latest is from Tarun Vijay, former editor of Panchjanya, an RSS mouthpiece. Focusing on the austerity drive of the Congress party, this BJP leader blogged recently, "If Rahul Gandhi wills he can get a change in the country."

Tarun Vijay may justify his words in the blog, but people from the Saffron brigade are criticising it.

K N Govindacharya, a former BJP ideologue and the face of RSS, said, "He must learn something from Lenin, who took a long time to appreciate a person. This is very sad (coming) from a BJP leader and I can only say that it is a statement in haste."

Criticising the blog, a senior VHP leader said: "BJP is facing an inferiority complex and I can only say that Tarun Vijay is the most opportunistic and complex character at present in the BJP."

Prakash Javdekar, an official spokesperson of the BJP, even forgot that Tarun Vijay is also the national executive member and said, "No guidelines have been issued by BJP and Sangh stopping anyone from writing his personal opinion. And because he is not a BJP official, he is free to write his personal opinion."

RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said, "He is no more the editor of Panchjanya and because he is not related to Sangha directly, I don't want to make any statement upon the matter."u00a0 Congress leader Shashi Tharoor might not be in clear waters yet, for his 'cattle class' tweet but Tarun Vijay (who heads the Shyama Prasad
Mukherjee Research foundation of BJP) is not worried. "Why don't we come forward and support the step taken by Rahul? We don't, because of his Congress background and I am not ready to accept that. If anyone is involved in the betterment of the nation, my ideology allows me to appreciate it and I have done that. I feel that if he wills it, he can really make a change because by virtue of his popular face, he can bring a change," added Tarun. Meanwhile, he maintained that he was a true BJP worker and would do everything for the party.

What Tarun Vijay's blog says
"I am sure if Rahul wills, he can effect a change. The reports emerging from his camp do tell a tale which is different and refreshing. He is enjoying an unenviable position and attracts an audience that can be turned into agents of change.
