Residents of suburban Chembur are up in arms against the collectorate and the civic officials for not taking any action against illegal construction in the vicinity.
An open plot admeasuring approximately around 10,000 sf ft at Pestom Sagar, Road No 6, opposite Anjana Co-operative Housing society was allegedly encroached by a shopowner trading in marble business, G R Gaokar, a resident told PTI.
The residents wrote several letters since for the last six months to the 'M' ward, BMC and also the Collectorate, but no action was being taken by these authorities, Gaokar said.
"Collectors land worth crores of rupees is been systematically grabbed by the encroacher with the BMC (M-West ward) and collector's official who are hand in glove," another resident who din't want to be identified alleged.
