The police in Thane have arrested a 30 years old man for syphoning off Rs six lakh from a pathology laboratory of a private hospital where he worked


Thane: The police in Thane have arrested a 30 years old man for syphoning off Rs six lakh from a pathology laboratory of a private hospital where he worked.

Ashish Padwal, the accused, worked as a cashier at the lab.

According to the complaint filed by the hospital authorites, he collected the moeny from patients and forged the signature of his superior officer on the Mediclaim applications, and pocketed the cash. The fraud came to notice when there was a sudden rise in number of Mediclaim applications.

Since last year he alleged syphoned off Rs 6 to 7 lakhs, police spokesperson inspector Sukhada Narkar said. Kapurbawdi police have lodged a case of cheating and are probing the case.
