The Mumbai Central police have arrested a man for killing his neighbour and cutting off his private parts before dumping his body. According to the police, the victim used to ask the accused's wife for sexual favours, and the accused had warned the victim against doing so.
After discovering the body of the 40-year-old man inside an unused signalling cabin at Mahim Railway station on September 4, police then circulated the picture of the victim in Mahim, after which he was identified.
The deceased was identified as Bashir Shaikh who was a scrap dealer in Mahim. The signalling cabin was in an isolated building, unused for the last 15 years. "Bashir's private parts were severed and we suspected that he might have been killed by someone over a love affair," said a police officer from Mumbai Central police station.
After further investigations, the police were led to Hassan Shaikh, a resident of Mahim. "Hassan stays in the slums near the Mahim station and we learnt that he is a rag picker who used to sell scrap to Bashir.

He has told the police that he killed Bashir with the aid of two friends on September 4, the day it rained heavily. Bashir would demand sexual favours from Hassan's wife, which angered him. He also groped her, after which she complained to Hassan," said the police officer.
Hassan first reprimanded Bashir, but the latter did not heed his warning. On September 4, Hassan and his friends invited Bashir for a drink at the signalling cabin and later murdered him.
"We have arrested Hassan and are searching for his two friends," said Shivaji Shinde, senior police inspector of Mumbai Central Government Railway police.
