It has now come to light that the three men arrested for the murder and robbery of a call centre driver Ritesh Singh, 24, are the same people who managed to steal Singh's car from the Aarey Sub Police Station.
The car that was stolen from Aarey police station
The police had found the car on the road after the murder in Mira Road. The accused wanted to sell the stolen car to spend the money on bar girls. The Kashimira police have, so far, managed to arrest two accused in this case, while a third accused was arrested by the Crime Branch.
Anil Kadam, senior inspector at Kashimira police station, told sunday mid-day, "The two accused have been identified as Mangesh Harijan and Umesh Harijan. The third one is Velapandi Harijan who was arrested by the Crime Branch in a Aarey Colony gangrape case. Two more are wanted."
The story so far
On March 1, five men allegedly killed Singh and dumped his body near Bhayendar creek. They stole his Indica for the purpose of selling it. They kept the car in Aarey Colony and frequented the spot with prospective buyers.
On March 10, the Aarey police found out that this car was stolen and was at the Aarey Sub Police Station. After a few days, the accused managed to steal the car from the police station.
They kept the car at Vanrai area in Goregaon. Meanwhile, the Vanrai police found the car on March 15 and kept it under their custody. The accused tried but were unable to steal the car again. The car was then sent to Kashimira police for further investigation.
The Andheri police recently arrested Mangesh Harijan in an attempted murder case and later, during investigation, he revealed that he had also killed Singh with his four partners.
