The first birthday of his daughter is bound to be extra special this year for sound designer Resul Pookutty. Pookutty, who receivedu00a0an Oscar for best sound mixing for Slumdog Millionaire last night (US time) with Ian Tapp andu00a0Richard Pryke, is set to return to India in time for his daughter's first birthday on February 25.
The first Indian to receive an award in the category, an emotional Pookutty accepted the award saying he the golden statuette was "history being handed over" to him and dedicated it to the country.
Pookutty was accompanied by his wife to the awards at the Kodak theatre and his children -- Falina aged 11 months and Rayan (3) -- woke early on Monday morning to catch the action live on television. "His daughter wanted to give the TV a kiss when her papa came on screen," said Pookutty's assistant Baiju.
The children are currently being looked after by his mother-in-law and sister-in-law, who flew in from the Gulf to take care of the tots whilst their parents were away.
Pookutty has previously worked on several Bollywood projects, including Ghajini and Black.
