A 46-year-old scrap dealer was found murdered in his residence at Bhagat Singh Nagar in suburban Goregaon on Tuesday, police said.
According to the Bhangur Nagar police, the residents of Shivneri Welfare Society complained to the police and fire brigade officials after a foul smell started emanating from the deceased Nanji Thakur's home for the last few days.
"We found decomposed body of Nanji lying on the floor after the door was opened. Nanji would have been killed five to six days back," senior police inspector Maruti Telang said.
"He was staying alone for the last six months. His wife and six children left him as he was addicted to alcohol and charas," Telang said adding that, "the body was taken to Bhagwati hospital for post-mortem."
