According to the ACB officials, the owner of Santosh Restaurant and Bar in Antop Hill had approached them on September 29 complaining that Abdul Salam Shaikh, the orderly of Senior PI Siraj Shaikh, was demanding money from him.
The complainant alleged that despite following all the rules, cops raided his hotel on July 12 around 10.45 pm. He later learnt that he had to pay some money to the local police to continue his business unhindered.
In fact, the complainant was allegedly to visit Antop Hill police station and meet the senior PI. That's when Abdul Salam demanded Rs 6,000 from him - Rs 5,000 for the inspector and Rs 1,000 for himself.
The complainant then approached the ACB and filed a complaint against Abdul Salam. "Acting on the complaint, we laid the trap and arrested Salam red-handed while he was accepting a bribe inside the police station," said an ACB officer.
