Ramchandran was trapped for several hours after the disaster, despite all the arrangements made to rescue him.

According to CPRO, CR, Srinivas Mudgerikar, "The rescue team (see pic), equipped with cutter, generator, glucose bottles, two table fans and a team of doctors, rushed to the spot to rescue Ramchandran, but in vain."

According to sources at the spot, Ramchandran was in contact with the rescue team while the rescue operation was on.

He was pulled out from the train around 1.45 pm.

"We feel bad that we could not rescue him," added Mudgerikar.
