After a regular patient without any flu or swine flu symptoms was turned away by a private hospital in Vashi for not wearing a mask, Varun Singh comes face-to-face with city hospitals
Hinduja Hospital (3 pm): At the entrance, a security guard saw me cough and immediately asked me to go to the casualty ward. Of the many patients there, nly a few wore masks. Despite my bare face, no one asked me to wear a mask or even cover my face.u00a0

Jaslok Hospital (3.45 pm): Neither the security guard at the main entrance, nor any of the hospital staff inside, asked me to wear a mask when I entered. However, every one, including the guards and the staff, had their faces covered. When I started to cough and pretended to sneeze, a patient's relative asked me to cover my face with a handkerchief or a mask.
Breach Candy Hospital (4 pm): As soon as I entered, I noticed that unlike Jaslok, very few people had masks on. No one asked me to wear a mask. Even when I entered the OPD, no one said a word, even though I was coughing and pretending to sneeze.
Saifee Hospital (4.30 pm): I coughed as a security guard checked my bag. The guard immediately left the bag, covered his face and allowed me to enter without further checks. I stayed in the hospital for a few minutes. Almost everyone was wearing a mask or had covered their faces with handkerchiefs. But no one asked me to cover up. But all heads turned towards me whenever I coughed.
