Maharashtra has received the highest foreign direct investment (FDI) for the second year in a row. The topper in the financial year 2023-24 has got FDI of Rs 1,25,101 crore, higher than the 2022-23's Rs 1,18,422 crore investment coming in from abroad.
DCM Devendra Fadnavis, whose tenure as the CM was marked by higher FDIs, took potshots at the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi regime. He took to social media on Friday to announce the data released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Fadnavis said the investment in the financial year was more than double the total investment received in Gujarat and more than the combined sum of second-ranked Gujarat and third-ranked Karnataka. "Maharashtra, which lagged behind in attracting investment during MVA tenure, has once again ranked first for 2 consecutive years," he said further.
"It takes courage to walk the talk, act and prove yourself; but mere jabbering takes no courage," he said on X. "Consecutively, for the 2nd year in a row, Maharashtra ranks number 1 in attracting the highest FDI," he added.

"After being Number 1 in attracting FDI in 2022-23, Maharashtra once again is at the top in the financial year 2023-24 too. As per the data released by DPIIT on May 30, Maharashtra has received more foreign investment this year than last year. I congratulate the people of Maharashtra," said the DCM.
