Ahead of Diwali, the Mumbai Police on Wednesday issued an order prohibiting fireworks in areas close to oil and fuel companies.
The order issued by Sanjay Latkar, DCP Operations, Mumbai said, "no person shall let off or throw any fire crackers/firework or send up any rocket upon any place within a distance of 50G meters beyond the buffer zones of bottling plant and the following arca of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. for the period between October 16, 2022 to November 14, 2022, (Both days inclusive)."
It further said that the order was applicable in the following areas:
1. Outside perimeter area of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Lid., and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Refinery.

5. Behind 15 and 50 acres area up to Special Oil Refinery.

The order further said, no person at any public place in the limits of Brihanmumbai shail sell, possess, offer, display, carry or expose for purpose of sale of any fire crackers/fire works without license granted by the Commissioner of Police or Commissioner of Police or State Government to grant such license.
It said, "fireworks means explosive specified in firework in clause 7 of Explosive Rules of 1983."
