Reiterating cooperation from the BJP during the restrictions, Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to the Maharashtra government to think of the welfare of distressed people.
"The government should announce a financial package for the people," said Fadnavis, adding that the pandemic was assuming a serious proportion and the review of toll would add at least 400 more deaths to state tally.
"We, as an opposition party, will always support the government. We have instructed our workers to assist the state machinery in vaccination. The blanket lockdown and partial lockdown shouldn't alone be discussed but the new virus mutant should also be studied in depth, and ways should be found out to fight it because I am told the mutant affects lungs very severely," he said.
Fadnavis said cities other than Pune and Mumbai should also be strengthened in COVID care and bed strength.

"Daily wagers, farmers, poor, middle class and small traders should be given financial assistance. We haven't politicised the pandemic and we expect ruling parties to stop masking their failure by blaming the Centre every time they face crisis. The government shouldn't expect one-way response (from the BJP). We have cooperated earlier and will continue to support in the future as well," said Fadnavis.
