Shruti Mahadik and son Rajveer
The Nehru Nagar police has arrested two relatives of a woman, who jumped to her death from the 22nd floor of a housing society, along with her three-year-old son on Wednesday. The police had recovered their bodies from a nullah in the Chunabhatti area.
The woman, identified as Shruti Mahadik, a resident of Kurla's Kamgar Nagar was living with her mother and husband Yashraj Mahadik. According to the police, Shruti left her home in Kurla along with her son Rajveer at around 10 pm on Wednesday. She had left her mobile phone at home. When the family couldn't trace her, they registered a complaint with the Nehru Nagar police station.

The police discovered that the deceased owned a flat on the 22 floor of Alta Vista building in Chunabhatti. "We then checked the CCTV camera footage of the society. While Shruti and her son were seen entering the building, they weren't seen leaving it. We questioned the residents, but nobody had any clue. After scrutinising CCTV footage carefully, we discovered a branch of a tree had fallen down suddenly [sometime after they entered the building]. Since there was a nullah nearby, we decided to enlist the help of the fire brigade and another police team to carry out a search." Their decomposed bodies were recovered on Friday night, and taken to Rajawadi Hospital for postmortem.
The police also found a suicide note on her person, where she said that the family was embroiled in a property dispute, and that her husband's brother Sachin had been harassing them. Following investigations, the police arrested Sachin and his father, Kishor.
