Efforts to douse fire are underway/ Shadab Khan
On Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at a closed chemical factory in Dombivli area of Thane district, said officials. The chief of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell Dipak Nikam told PTI that no casualty had been reported thus far and that there was an explosion at the chemical factory.
Nikam, told the news agency that thick smoke billowed from the chemical factory and was visible from a long distance.
Reportedly, the unit is located near Amudan Chemicals where a massive blast on May 23 killed 10 and left over 60 persons injured.

Speaking to the news agency, Nikam had mentioned that the fire erupted around 10 am on Wednesday at the chemical factory located in the Dombivli MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) area.
According to the PTI report, three fire engines and an ambulance were rushed to the sport and that the firefighting operations were still underway.
The cause of the fire was not yet known, Nikam said.
Meanwhile, DCP Kalyan, Sachin Gunjal, speaking to news agency said that the fire had spread to an adjacent chemical factory too and that they have evacuated the whole area. He added that the fire is being doused.
Gunjal said, "A fire broke out in a chemical company around 10.30 AM. The fire spread to the adjacent chemical company too. We have evacuated the whole area. The efforts to douse the fire are underway... According to the fire officers, the fire will be controlled in an hour. As per the primary information, we got to know through the company administration that no one was inside the company."
