The bus collided with 30-40 vehicles over a 100-meter stretch before crashing into the RCC column of the Solomon Building, breaking its compound wall, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. (Pic/Sameer Abdedi)

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MLA Dilip Lande said brake failure was the reason of the accident. He said that the bus driver pressed the accelerator in panic after losing control of the vehicle and rammed into 30-35 people. (Pic/Sameer Abdedi)

According to the civic authorities, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) and the Mumbai Police officials rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation. (Pic/Sameer Abdedi)

An official said that the accident took place at 9.50 pm. The firefighting personnel, along with other authorities, began the rescue operations. At 10.10 pm, MFB declared the mishap as a 'Level-1' incident. (Pic/Sameer Abdedi)
