CM Eknath Shinde said the Coastal Road will help in reducing the commute time as well as the fuel of motorists

One of the arch bridges was scheduled to be opened by the end of July, but due to the monsoon and technical issues, the opening ceremony was postponed to September 12. The second bridge is expected to be completed by the year-end

 

In his post on social media platform X, Devendra Fadnavis wrote that the work for the Mumbai Coastal Road was delayed by 25 years and completed under the Mahayuti Govt

CM Shinde and Fadnavis met with the fishing community during the inauguration. Worli fishermen had been protesting for a few months to get the span between two pillars of the Coastal Road at Cleveland Bunder increased to ensure the easy navigation of boats

The construction of the 10.5-km Coastal Road from Marine Lines to Worli is in progress

Currently, the Coastal Road is operational only up to Worli between 7 am and 11 pm on weekdays

The two leaders were asked about their cabinet colleague Ajit Pawar's absence. To this, Fadnavis informed that Pawar was at another event

“There was a plan to allow two-way traffic on the bridge, but this won’t be possible. Only northbound vehicles can ply the structure from September 12. The next bridge will open by the year-end, informed an official

"The completion of the most important phase of this project, connecting the Mumbai coastal road and the Bandra-Worli sea bridge, will bring great relief to the citizens. This will save time, fuel and will be able to travel directly without stopping at any signal," stated CM Shinde

In his social media post, Deputy CM Fadnavis wrote: "What Congress and Sharad Pawar couldn't do in 25 years, Mahayuti Government under Hon PM Modi Ji's leadership completed in just 5 meetings!"

CM Eknath Shinde said the structure of this bridge is unique and made as per international standards 

Devendra Fadnavis said that so far, 92 per cent of the coastal road work has been completed and the remaining work will be completed soon

The 10.58-kilometre Mumbai Coastal Road will include infill roads, bridges, and elevated roads and interchanges at Amarsons, Haji Ali and Worli
