The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) is working on an infrastructure upgrade, which includes the installation of girders at a Road Under Bridge (RUB) in Bapane

The construction activity involved heavy machinery, cranes, and blocked sections of the highway, resulting in significant delays for road users

Heavy traffic congestion was reported on the highway, with vehicles stranded for several kilometers, leaving commuters frustrated

NH48 is a key arterial route that connects Mumbai and Ahmedabad, witnessing heavy daily traffic, including goods carriers, passenger vehicles, and buses, amplifying the impact of the disruption

Many commuters expressed frustration as they were stuck in traffic for several hours without prior notice about the work or alternative routes

The authorities had diverted traffic through alternate routes in some sections, but the diversions were poorly managed, further aggravating the situation

Some road users raised concerns over the lack of effective traffic management measures on social media

The construction work is part of the Dedicated Freight Corridor project, a massive infrastructure initiative aimed at improving the movement of goods via rail, which is expected to ease road traffic in the long term
