A massive fire broke out at the Mankhurd Mandala scrap godowns on Monday, spreading over a 1,000 by 1,000 square feet area. The fire brigade classified the blaze as a Level 2 fire due to the presence of highly flammable materials, which contributed to its rapid spread. (PIC/Sayyed Sameer Abedi)

No casualties were reported at the time of writing, though the fire caused significant damage to the godowns. The fire was confined to electrical wiring, wooden scrap, and plastic materials stored in various sections of the godowns.
The scrap godown structures, made of steel and tin, posed challenges for firefighting efforts as they were load-bearing and difficult to enter. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine how the blaze started.
