Raj Thackeray's MNS has released the names of 45 candidates who will be contesting in the Maharashtra Assembly election

Raj Thackeray's son Amit will make his electoral debut from the Mahim constituency

The party had won one seat each in the past two Assembly elections

The MNS chief had earlier stated that he will accompany Jadhav for his nomination

In 2019, Avinash Jadhav had lost to BJP's Sanjay Kelkar by around 20,000 votes

Though he had supported PM Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, Raj Thackeray said his party will fight independently for the Maharashtra Assembly election

The poll preparations in the state are going on in full swing. Candidates can file their nominations by October 29 for the polls

The BJP, CM Eknath Shinde-headed Shiv Sena, and Deputy CM Sjit Pawar's NCP form the ruling Mahayuti alliance

The Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) form the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance

Several Independents, as well as candidates from AIMIM, Samajwadi Party and RPI will also be fighting the polls

While there is a fierce fight among the two opposition camps, MNS also looks to better its performance this time

The election will be held on November 22 and the results will be declared three days later

The election to 288-seat Assembly will be held in a single phase
