Mumbai: Ghatkopar-Versova metro line achieves 5 lakh ridership in a single day, surpassing pre-Covid count

Mumbai Metro One hit a new record by ferrying over 5 lakh commuters in a single day. On August 13 2024, Mumbai Metro One carried 5,00,385 commuters.  "This is the first time ridership of Mumbai Metro One has crossed the milestone figure of 500,000 without the impact of external factors. In 2019, the ridership of Mumbai Metro One crossed 5 lakh since the BEST buses went on a nine-day strike," a spokesperson said. Read more.

Mumbai: Bandra Fair row reaches cardinal

Dissatisfied with the reduction in rents that must be paid to run stalls outside the Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount during the weeklong Bandra fair, protesters have decided to approach Cardinal Oswald Gracias to resolve the issue. Mumbai: Multiple bridges could turn BKC into walker’s paradise

A few key pedestrian bridges linking BKC with Kurla, Sion, and Chunabhatti could transform pedestrian dynamics and provide easy walking access to BKC, according to the Walking Project’s suggestions to the MMRDA and the guardian minister. This is one of many recommendations gathered from a survey conducted at BKC, which identified issues and proposed enhancements to make the area more pedestrian-friendly. With the Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) at Kurla station now sanctioned by the Chief Minister’s Office—following a follow-up by mid-day and local MLA Mangesh Kudalkar —the proposal gains further significance. Mumbai: Ghatkopar traffic woes to ease by March 2025

While the Ghatkopar East-West connector on the Ghatkopar-Andheri link road witnessed a huge traffic blockade, work on the two alternate connectors of Vikhroli and Vidhyavihar has also been delayed due to various reasons. The work on the Vikhroli connector will be completed in March 2025, and that of the Vidyavihar connector will be completed in February 2026. Read more.
