It promised to be a dream home for many and it continues to remain one. The wait to get into their flats seems to be an endless one. Many people, including NRIs and IT professionals who had invested their savings to buy a home in Wonder Futura, an upmarket housing complex at Bavdhan comprising 100 flats developed by Bharati Developers, are still waiting for the keys to their flats that were promised in 2006.

Protest
Sixty people who booked flats in the Phase 1 project of Wonder Futura have only got handover documents instead of a sale document, whereas 40 people who booked flats in Phase II are yet to get possession of their flats. The hassled residents staged a protest yesterday.

Nikhil Roy, a techie, and Shubhada Kamlapurkar, an architect, who signed an agreement with Bharati Developers in March 2006 have been waiting for the last three years.

Inferior quality
Meanwhile, residents of Phase I are fed up with the leakage and water problems and sub-standard amenities provided to them. Advocate Sonali Shrikhande, a lecturer in a law college, who purchased a flat on agreement in 2004 and an adjoining flat in Phase I told MiD DAY they were forced to pay the full amount of Rs 40 lakh at the time of booking plus additional five year maintenance charges and parking space fees, whichu00a0 is illegal.

"I was the second person to book the flat and I kept monitoring the pace of the project. Bharati Developers have delivered a project of sub-standard quality," said Sonali. She added that she got the factual possession (key handover document) without the amenities that were promised. "We are facing serious seepage and drainage problem. Apart from this, we have a serious water problem. Digital security appliances too are not functional."

Tragedy
Shyam Vasu, who works in an automobile company, and businessman Bhau Tapkir had similar complaints and pointed out areas in the parking zone that had leakage problems.

"The gas storage is so badly and dangerously maintained that if it catches fire accidentally, there is a likelihood of a big tragedy," he said.
