Delhiites beware! Mirchi may give you sleepless nights. After gaining notoriety for carjacking in Gurgaon, the Lal mirchi red chilly powder gang, specialised in looting valuables after throwing red chilli powder in the eyes of the victim, is now preying on luxury cars in the capital.u00a0 In broad daylight, a 28-year-old businessman was beaten up by the gang in a bid to rob him of his expensive Skoda Laura car on Sunday afternoon.

Posing as the potential buyers of luxury cars, two men visited the auto showroom of the victim Sachin Arora's uncle in Vikaspuri on Sunday afternoon and asked for a test drive of the Skoda Laura car (CH 03Z 6009).u00a0


"They asked me for a test drive. I also accompanied them and was seated in rear passenger seat of the vehicle. When we reached Rajouri garden, I asked them to go back to the shop. I was surprised when one of them in the back seat at the gun point threatened me to hand over the car to them," said Sachin.u00a0

According to the victim, he tried to fight back but they threw red chilli powder on his face. "To save my life, I was trying to open the door of the car. But, the one at the back hit me severely on my eyes, head and body with the pistol's butt. I was bleeding profusely and they kept throwing red chilli powder on my face," added Sachin.

The accident

Raju, a shopkeeper, who was an eyewitness to the whole incident said that the car nearly hit a motorcycle and screeched to a halt, crashing into the road-divider in Rajouri Garden.u00a0

Following the accident, the accused fled away from the scene.u00a0 However, the 28-year-old can thank his lucku stars as he escaped death in the tragic incident.

" The victim, whose eyes were bleeding profusely, was lying inside vehicle. We called the Police Control room thrice but it took the police an hour to reach the spot," the eyewitness said.

The two left their pistol, a bag containing a 32 centimetres dagger and a packet of red chilli powder in the rear seat of the car.u00a0

The victim was taken to the nearby Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospital, where he received eight stitches on his head.

The victim's uncle who was at the police station said, " I hope the police will find the accused soon. Such an incident in Delhi shook me out of my wits."

The police has registered a case. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Sharad Agarwal said that the police said, "We will arrest the accused as soon as possible. Investigations are on."
