Rounds of assault rifles, Chinese pistols being smuggled in from Nepal; police bust a module
THE Delhi police has busted a module involved in smuggling arms from Nepal and northeastern states into the national capital.

In a raid in the Nand Nagri area of east Delhi on Tuesday night, the Delhi Police arrested Gajendra, 32 and Pushpendra Singh, 35, seized several rounds of AK-47 and INSAS assault rifles, Chinese pistols and empty magazines.
"We have recovered five high-quality pistols and magazines and 15 rounds of 7.62 mm bullets from their possession. We had raided on a tip-off. The accused were travelling with all these ammunition in their bags. We intercepted them and seized the cache of arms," said SS Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast Delhi).
Both the accused are from Mainpuri in Itawa District in UP and they were supplying illegal arms to the criminals of NCR for the last six months.
"The accused were in the business of illegal arms for the last several months and supplying such arms to the criminals of NCR for last six months. The accused used to book orders and supply accordingly. The seized consignment was meant for Akbar, a known criminal of Nand Nagri area. Akbar had gone to Itawa to place the order. We have launched a manhunt for Akbar and we will arrest him soon," Yadav added
The bullets recovered from the accused are used in automatic weapons of the security forces like AK 47, Belgian SLR and INSAS.
"During interrogation the accused revealed that they use to buy such high quality weapons from the North Eastern states of India and sometimes they brought such weapons from Nepal. They used to sell a pistol for Rs 30,000- 40,000 and the 7.63 mm bullets costs Rs 300-400 each. The accused used to earn a lot of profit," Yadav said.
Both of the accused are history sheeters, there is a FIR pending against Pushpendra under Arms Act in Firozabad, UP while Gajendra faces murder charges against Gajendra in Itawa.
"We are interrogating the accused to trace their links to other arms mafia and their modules in Delhi.u00a0 We are also ascertaining how many weapons they have sold in the last six months and to whom," the Deputy Commissioner of Police added.
