Protests over the government's decision to allow foreign investment in multi-brand retail and cap the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders again disrupted proceedings in both houses of parliament today.
The Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 12 noon. Soon after proceedings began, opposition MPs were on their feet raising slogans against the two key economic reforms on which the government had taken a decision only a couple of months ago.
This resulted in the crucial question hour being lost for the third successive day of the winter session.
The opposition stalled proceedings, pressing for a vote in both the houses on the issue of foreign investment in retail. In the Lok Sabha, the additional issue of the cap on subsidised cooking gas was raised.
