Road rage is nothing new for Delhi as several desperate drivers relieve their pent up stress, multiplied by serpentine jams, on roads and fellow commuters.
Monday evening was no exception when Mukesh Kumar Garain, administration and finance head with One World Information Foundation was returning home from office at Qutub institutional area.
As soon as Garain started for house in his Alto car, a white Accent sedan zoomed past him from the wrong side.
A head-on collision was averted by a few inches, as Garain was yet to accelerate and stopped his car well in time.
"As soon as I pointed out that he was driving rash, Kishanji started beating me.
My colleague Varun, who was also returning home, spotted me on the road and stopped to help me. I immediately called up the police control room," Garain told MiD DAY at AIIMS trauma center where was admitted after suffering head injuries.
Garain alleged that while Varun was trying to calm Kishanji, the latter called up some local goons who later joined him and targeted both Varun and Garain. Kishanji is a local shopkeeper in the nearby Munirka. Badly hurt with injuries on head and face, Garain and Varun were taken to the AIIMS trauma center by the PCR van that reached the spot after 15 minutes.
While Varun was discharged after first-aid, Mukesh got stitches on his face.
However, when MiD DAY contacted Kishanji, he claimed that it was Garain who started the brawl and "slapped" his wife. No case has been registered.
