The income tax officials conducted a series of raids on the houses and offices of politicians and confiscated documents related to their property and business on Tuesday.


u00a0A team of officials carried out simultaneous raids on the houses of former MLA R V Devaraj, Shantinagar Mallikarjuna, and other politicians. They also raided the house of Ramesh, former employee of Bangalore Development Authority and seized documents.

The police provided security to the IT officials, who carried out the raids. The IT department said the raids were being carried out across the nation and refused to divulge more details.

Supporters of R V Devaraj, threatened the media of dire consequences when they went to cover the raid. Tension prevailed for some time in front of Devaraj's house at Chamrajpet.
