An unclaimed Maruti 800 car parked near the Rajdhani Enclave at Preet Vihar in east Delhi for the last four days has been giving sleepless nights to the colony's residents. But the cops are not bothered to trace its owner.

With memories of the Delhi serial blasts and Mumbai attacks still fresh in their minds, panic-stricken people are racking their brains on how to tackle the situation.

According to the residents of the colony, a white Maruti 800 car (registration number DL-2CK-6285) was parked near the locality on July 8.u00a0 They grew suspicious after no one came to claim it. Apprehending it might be a car bomb, the residents called the local police station and the police control room. However, the police turned a deaf ear to the complaints. No action has been taken yet.

Dr Sudesh Ratan, a colony resident and a physician practicing at Bengali Market, said, "No one is coming forward to claim the car. It sure doesn't belong to anyone in our locality."

He added, "Despite numerous calls made to the police since Friday morning, the vehicle is still lying unclaimed. Though, I was assured the police will visit the spot soon, there has been no action. They have not even towed it away."

Other residents echoed the same fear. "The police are not taking the matter seriously. There could be a bomb inside the car or it could be a stolen vehicle. We want to trace the owner as soon as possible," said another resident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Anand Mohan said, "I will check the matteru00a0 out and get the car towed away, if required."
