Three militants were shot dead by security forces in an encounter in Mahore area of Reasi district on Wednesday.
On tip off, Rashtriya Rifles troops and police launched a joint operation in Pathria, about 200 km from Jammu, in Mahore area around 0145 hours, a defence spokesman said.
Militants opened fire on the security forces who retaliated. In the subsequent encounter, three militants were gunned down by the security forces. Two AK rifles, a pistol and four hand grenades were recovered from the slain militants, whose identity was being ascertained, the spokesman said.
Search operations were going on in the area.
