The crowd was predominantly youthful at the Shut Up and Vote rock concert at St Joseph's College of Commerce on Residency Road on Saturday. The evening opened with short speeches on elections, democracy and the power of votes by Jaago Re activists.u00a0 Parachute 16, a local band, played original songs before Bruce Lee Mani and his band, Thermal And A Quarter, took the crowd by storm with their special song, Shut Up and Vote. Sharath Potharaju, head of communications for Jaago Re: One Billion Votes, then spoke about what inspired the campaign. "People have either loved the song, Shut Up and Vote, or hated it, but either way, they are talking about the song, the campaign and the need to vote," he said. The five-city rock tour started in Chennai on March 20 and ended in Bangalore, the headquarters of the campaign.
