A Japanese tourist was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a guesthouse here, police said on Friday.
Adachi Tatsua, 45, was found dead late Thursday evening in the Sankata guest house in this city's Chowk area, about 250 km from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.
"The body of the Japanese tourist was found lying in a corner of the ground floor of the guesthouse," Superintendent of Police (city) Vijay Bhushan told reporters.
"Until we get the post-mortem report, we cannot ascertain the cause behind the tourist's death," he added.

According to police, Tatsua had checked into the guest house Thursday morning. Police have not ruled out the possibility of foul play behind the tourist's death.
"We have already detained some staff of the guesthouse, including its manager, who we think can provide vital information related to the mysterious death," Bhushan told reporters.
